Conversion of a mobile daylight press for the production of gypsum-fibreboard
On behalf of Siempelkamp Logistics & Service GmbH we retrofitted a mobile daylight press for the production of gypsum fibreboard for our joint customer James Hardie. The order volume comprised both the planning of the entire retrofitting, taking into account third-party provisions as well as dismantling and reassembly.
In collaboration with the customer’s static experts we had to design an auxiliary support structure to enable dismantling and reassembly of the press elements, which weighed up to 65 t. Moreover, our assembly concept had to incorporate a special crane for lifting work in confined spaces that was provided by our partner.
The on-site conditions had some challenges in store. Assembly, for example, had to be performed in confined spaces between the hall wall and the press pit (space as small as 5.5 m).
